RR drummers were a soap opera on there own. originally John Andrew the drummer with late 80s band Kingmaker but John was in the hired gun business and went off on tour with some bird playing shopping malls for two weeks, which was not viewed by us as committment enough. He came back a few days earlier than expected to find Lenni's kit sitting in the middle of the rehearsal room and went mad. When Lenni left about 2 years later, Nik rang up to ask if we would be interested in him joining. He casually mentioned that his current bandless situation had come about becuase he had punched out Ample Cleavages singer Liz. (the band Nik and formed with his brother Phil)
Nik was in about 18 months before both me and Jon Stewart came close to blows with Nik. Great guy but a mad temper. Meanwhile Davey had relocated from Telford to replace Nik in Ample Cleaveage. Both Nik, his brother, and Wavey Davey lived in the same house in Doncaster. When things got really fraught with Nik, Davey casually made it apparent that 'if Nik got chucked out of Rags he would happily audition.
I had the unenviable task of sacking Nik, whilst Davey came over to Hull for a couple of days rehearsal. Someone inadvertantly told Nik that Davey was over in Hull, Nik put 2 and 2 togther, and when Davey went back to Doncaster that night Nik threw him out of the house and told him he would see him burn hell before he ever spoke to him again.
Fucking Drummers man, theyre a nightmare breed.
